Responsibilities

Responsibilities for Mental Health Director:

  • Coordinate, lead and participate in educational and training activities related to mental health care for patients
  • Evaluate patients in a variety of settings
  • Perform and document mental health evaluations
  • Facilitate patient treatment to include admission and discharge from the mental health unit, housing change requests, seclusion, suicide precautions, close observation, and observation level changes
  • DSM-V
  • Coach and collaborate with site mental health clinical staff
  • Ensure all mental health clinicians are educated
  • Work cooperatively with all psychiatric providers
  • Assist with recruiting efforts for mental health staff

Qualifications

Qualifications for Mental Health Director:

 

  • Masters prepared candidate with a current, unrestricted license in CO 
  • Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in a mental health care setting
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in management and correctional healthcare preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in the identification and treatment of mental health and co-occurring substance abuse disorders, discharge planning, principles of social work, basic principles of individual and group behavior, suicide risk assessment, crisis de-escalation techniques
  • Working knowledge of psychotropic medications
  • Valid CPR card
