Overview

NaphCare is seeking a dedicated and skilled Pharmacy Technician specializing in sterile compounding to join our team.  This role involves the preparation of both hazardous and non-hazardous medications in accordance with USP 797 and USP 800 standards.  The ideal candidate will have specific expertise in handling and compounding chemotherapy drugs, with attention to detail, a strong understanding of safety protocols, and a commitment to providing quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare sterile compounded medications, including hazardous and non-hazardous drugs, following strict aseptic techniques and USP 797 and 800 guidelines.
  • Label, package, and document all compounded medications accurately.
  • Maintain a sterile environment in the cleanroom, ensuring all surfaces, equipment, and materials are properly sanitized and free from contamination.
  • Handle hazardous materials with appropriate safety precautions, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform quality control checks on compounded products to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Assist in managing inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies necessary for compounding.
  • Participate in continuous training to stay current with USP standards and best practices in sterile compounding.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, clinicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure safe, timely, and effective medication delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for compounded medications as required by regulatory agencies and facility protocols.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper waste disposal procedures for hazardous materials

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Active pharmacy technician license in Alabama.
  • PTCB CPhT Certification preferred.
  • Certification in sterile compounding preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in sterile compounding with specific experience in chemotherapy preparation.
  • Familiarity with chemotherapy agents, safety protocols, and compounding equipment (e.g., BSCs, CACIs).
  • In-depth knowledge of USP 797 and USP 800 guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Abilify to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of accuracy
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to patient safety.
