Overview

NaphCare is hiring a Staff Physician to join our team of medical professionals in the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA.

 

As a Correctional Staff Physician, you will be responsible for providing quality medical care to meet the healthcare needs of the patients within the facility, while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals.

Responsibilities

The Staff Physician is responsible for performing physical exams, diagnosing and treating illnesses, and managing chronic conditions, ensuring care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

  • Formulating working diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, and evaluating/modifying therapeutic regimens
  • Evaluating patients who have returned from off-site treatment
  • Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies throughout the facility
  • Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities related to medical care for patients
  • Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
  • Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
  • Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients’ needs

Qualifications

Education / Licenses / Certifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO)
  • Must hold a current unrestricted license as a physician in Georgia
  • A current DEA registration in Florida
  • A valid CPR card
  • Be certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
  • Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills.

 

Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills

  • Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to collaborate with medical team
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

 

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
