Overview

NaphCare is hiring an Order Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician to join our pharmacy team at our Corporate Headquarters located in Birmingham, AL.

NaphCare Rx, is NaphCare's in-house pharmacy dedicated solely to correctional facilities across the country. Connected by our operations management software and EHR, TechCare, NaphCare Rx pharmacists become an integrated, essential part of the clinical team, from electronic medicine orders and secure delivery to pharmacy consultation and review. NaphCare Rx also extends purchasing discounts and cost savings directly to our partners and employees.

 

The Order Fulfillment Pharmacy Technician is responsible for accurately preparing, packaging, labeling, and shipping medications in a high-volume pharmacy production environment. This role ensures prescriptions are filled according to pharmacy standards, regulatory requirements, and internal service level agreements. The technician works under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and plays a critical role in maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in the medication distribution process.

 

*This is a full-time, on-site position with hours of 9am – 6pm, Tuesday through Saturday.

Responsibilities

Prescription Fulfillment

  • Accurately select and count medications according to prescription labels
  • Prepare unit-dose, blister packs, or bulk packaging as required
  • Ensure correct drug, strength, dosage form, and quantity are selected
  • Stage prescriptions for pharmacist verification
  • Maintain production benchmarks while ensuring accuracy

Packaging & Labeling

  • Apply correct labels to medication packaging
  • Verify lot numbers and expiration dates prior to dispensing
  • Ensure packaging integrity and tamper-evident standards are met
  • Prepare shipments according to site-specific requirements

Shipping & Distribution

  • Assist in organizing completed prescriptions for shipment
  • Match filled orders to packing manifests
  • Follow temperature control and special handling requirements
  • Support end-of-day shipment reconciliation

 

Inventory & Organization

  • Restock medication shelves and maintain organized workstations
  • Rotate stock to ensure proper expiration date management (FIFO method)
  • Report low stock, backorders, or discrepancies to supervisor
  • Maintain clean and compliant work areas

Qualifications

  • Must hold and maintain a current, unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification issued by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy with a minimum of 1-year experience
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) technician certification is encouraged but not required
  • Must complete sufficient hours of CEU to maintain Technician license and technician certification
  • Ensure all pharmaceutical services provided within the facility conform to state licensure, accreditation, regulatory agency requirements, and company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate professionalism by using objectivity, maintaining self-control when under pressure, separating professional from personal issues, displaying emotional maturity, maintaining a high degree of integrity, and promoting a positive work environment by setting an example
  • Notify critical information to the next level of management that may have a negative impact on client and/or vendor relations or patient care
  • Willingness to complete departmental duties in other areas as needed
  • Willingness to complete special projects as needed from management
  • Willingness to work assigned schedule and mandatory overtime in peak times
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
